The journey of a Salik is built upon complete trust in Allah's wisdom and timing. This trust manifests in our ability to surrender our plans, expectations, and attachments to Allah's will.

سۡـــــــــمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡـمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِـــــــيم

اللهم صل على سيدنا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه وسلم

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

O Allah, send your peace and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and companions

The journey toward Allah is paved with moments of realization, where the heart discovers its true purpose and the soul finds its eternal anchor. As I reflect upon the  experiences that have shaped my spiritual consciousness, I am reminded of the foundational truth that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ sacrificed everything to convey: “La ilaha illallah” – There is nothing worthy of worship except Allah.

The Weight of Allah’s Invitation

As the sun sets on my final day of Umrah, I turn to Allah with a heart overflowing with emotion. “Ya Allah,” I whisper, “forgive me and have mercy on me.” The enormity of this blessing weighs heavy on my consciousness – for what have I done to deserve this honor? My only claim to this divine invitation is the sincere declaration of “La ilaha illallah.” Even this utterance of faith, I acknowledge, is not of my own power but entirely by His will and grace.

The reality of this privilege becomes even more apparent when I consider how many souls, blessed with abundance, yearn to step foot in the sacred precincts of Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi, yet find the doors closed to them. This sobering thought confirms that my presence here is solely by the mercy of the Most High.

We often clutch tightly to worldly attachments – family, wealth, status – as if they are truly ours. Yet, the reality is that nothing belongs to us; everything is a trust from Allah.

The Journey of Detachment

Through the teachings of Ustaz Sameer, I’ve come to understand that establishing Allah as our sole pursuit requires a profound shift in our priorities and intentions. We often clutch tightly to worldly attachments – family, wealth, status – as if they are truly ours. Yet, the reality is that nothing belongs to us; everything is a trust from Allah. This understanding becomes crystallized during the Umrah experience, where every soul stands equal before the House of Allah, stripped of worldly distinctions and cloaked only in the simple white ihram.

Breaking the Chains of Attachment

The journey toward making Allah our sole pursuit demands that we actively work to break these worldly attachments that can choke the heart and hinder spiritual growth. As I circumambulate the Kaaba, each step becomes a lesson in letting go – letting go of the idea of “mine,” accepting that all things are ultimately in Allah’s control. The physical act of tawaf transforms into a spiritual exercise in detachment, each circle bringing the heart closer to its true purpose.

The Path of the Salik

Becoming a Salik – one who actively pursues the path to Allah – requires more than occasional worship or seasonal devotion. It demands a continuous commitment to remembrance (dhikr), seeking knowledge, and prioritizing spiritual growth over material gains. The Prophet ﷺ exemplified this dedication through his unwavering commitment to his mission, despite facing unimaginable hardships. His sacrifices ensure that the message of pure monotheism continues to reach hearts until today.

Trust in Allah’s Wisdom

The journey of a Salik is built upon complete trust in Allah’s wisdom and timing. This trust manifests in our ability to surrender our plans, expectations, and attachments to Allah’s will. Sometimes, our prayers may not be answered in the way we expect, but this does not diminish Allah’s greatness. Instead, it becomes an opportunity to deepen our trust and remain grateful for His infinite wisdom.

The Reality of Acceptance

As I prepare to depart this sacred land, a question echoes in my heart: Will my Umrah be accepted? For truly, acceptance lies not in the mere performance of rituals but in the sincerity of the heart that beats beneath the ihram. This journey transcends physical acts of worship; it is a journey of the soul, an opportunity for deep introspection. True purity lies not in the white garments we don, but in the cleanliness of our hearts and the authenticity of our intentions.

A Pledge of Tarbiyah

Though I may not be worthy of this invitation, I am here by Allah’s will. I pledge to make every moment count, to pour my heart into every prayer, to seek forgiveness with every step. For ultimately, it is not the grandeur of our deeds that matter, but the sincerity of our intentions and the depth of our submission.

The journey of a Salik is built upon complete trust in Allah’s wisdom and timing. This trust manifests in our ability to surrender our plans, expectations, and attachments to Allah’s will.

The Mujahadah Continues

As I return to Singapore, I carry with me not just memories but a renewed commitment to making Allah my sole pursuit. I carry the hopes and prayers of countless others who long to visit His house. May Allah accept this Umrah not just from me but from all those who yearn to stand before the Kaaba. More importantly, may He grant us all the ultimate acceptance – His pleasure and Paradise in the hereafter and closeness to Him.

Every breath in this holy land has been a gift, every step toward the Kaaba a miracle. Yet the real journey begins now – the journey of maintaining this spiritual consciousness in our daily lives, of breaking attachments that distract us from our purpose, and of establishing Allah as our sole pursuit in every moment of our existence.

Ameen.
